According to the Fayette County Coroner, a 19-year-old individual was killed while breaking into a residence on Jouett Creek Drive, near Jacobson Park and off Hays Boulevard. Police arrived at the scene following a reported burglary at 1:10 a.m. on Monday and discovered an adult male who had been shot. The Lexington Fire Department confirmed that it was a home invasion and the homeowner shot and killed the intruder. A nearby resident reported hearing gunshots and mentioned that the family who resided at the house had moved in less than a year ago.
