The ongoing saga of Steubenville resident Dawn Hutchison who was just indicted for stabbing her husband in the back during a domestic dispute has taken another shocking turn.
According to a phone conversation with Dawn Hutchison, Jefferson County Prosecutor Frank Bruzzese has agreed to dismiss all charges and release Dawn from Jefferson County Jail if she can prove she indeed suffers from P.T.S.D.
This move of compassion is unprecedented given the past prosecution tactics of the local area, and may stand as a testament that the Ohio valley area truly is working toward jail and mental healthcare reform.
Dawn could have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, or felonious assault, but was given elevated felony status with no prior violent crime convictions.
This comes as a relief to Dawn, with whom I spoke to previously this week regarding her mental healthcare.
Dawn stated that another prisoner, who I spoke to yet wishes to remain unnamed, both are scheduled to attend Forensic Diagnostic Center of District 9.
The unnamed prisoner stated that during her visit, the psychiatrist unethically discussed Dawn, her case, and stated “We are determined to get her here”.
One would think that someone with the mental health issues stemming from childhood sexual abuse already has enough trust issues without having to add the mistrust of her providers to the list.
Jeffery and Dawn are in the process of obtaining the proper paperwork to secure Dawn’s release, allowing her to seek the care of her choice.
